Twinkle Twinkle
Composed in 1781, the theme of this theme and variations style work is one of the most recognizable tunes. The tune however, was not composed by Mozart as most people believe, as the tune dates back to a French tune first appears in 1761. When Mozart originally composed this work it was written for solo piano and consisted of 13 sections, the theme and 12 variations. This arrangement of the work show cases the theme and 8 of the 12 variations and is written as a flute quartet (3 concert C flutes and 1 alto flute), I have transposed the alto flute part to play this work as an oboe quartet (3 oboes and oboe d’amore ). Theme and variations on ‘Ah vous dirai-je, Maman’ (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)
